MRAP Training with Lamar County Sheriff's Office Special Response Team

The Lamar County Sheriff Office Special Response Team recently had the opportunity to train with their new Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle. Camp Shelby Joint Forces Training Center provided the training free as a service to the local law enforcement community. The MRAP will improve the capabilities of the SRT and provide them a safer platform from which to operate in higher threat environments. The Lamar County Sheriff's Office would like to thank Tim Gordy, Camp Shelby Special Projects Officer, for helping coordinate their training.

Camp Shelby hosts PATRIOT South 2018 Disaster Readiness Training

HATTIESBURG, Miss.(WHLT) - Multiple agencies around the nation gathered at Camp Shelby this week for disaster readiness training. About 1,000 National Guard Soldiers and Airmen from 11 states participated in the 2018 PATRIOT South exercises. The exercises primarily took place Camp Shelby and the Gulfport Combat Readiness Training Center. The training tests the National Guard's abilities to support response operations, and they build better relationships with local agencies like Mississippi Emergency Management. More Info
